Nancy is one of the founding partners of Davidson Houle Allen LLP.
Her practice includes general corporate advice to condominium corporations, financing and secured transactions, construction law, building deficiency litigation, and proceedings involving disputes between condominium corporations and residents.
Nancy has published articles in both the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO) and CondoBusiness Magazine. She is also a frequent guest lecturer at Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI) Seminars (local and National), the Annual Directors Course, the Kingston Area Condominium Association Seminars, and the Law Society of Upper Canada continuing legal education sessions. Nancy has also been a guest on various local radio and television shows including Ottawa Morning on CBC Radio and CBC Television.
Nancy enjoys connecting with people and finding ways to make a genuine difference to the lives of individuals, groups, and communities. One of her key strengths is being able to run smooth and effective meetings, leading the way to a practical resolution. Part of this is due to her sense of humour and ability to lighten the mood, even when a tough message needs to be delivered.
Growing up in a military family, Nancy spent her formative years living overseas, and now loves travelling to different parts of the world. Her labour of love is her country getaway, her home near the Gatineau Hills. Consequently, Nancy and her family spend as much time as possible outdoors: skiing in winter, and golfing and swimming in the summer. Music is also a big part of her family life, and Nancy sings and plays piano.

Hoarding 101 - Jim Hind, C.F.E.I
James is a Certified Firefighter, Fire Inspector, Public Fire & Life Safety Educator and Fire and Explosive Investigator.
In his 26th year in the Fire Service James has several roles in the community of London Ontario, as well as across the Province of Ontario. James was responsible for forming the Hoarding Task Force in the City of London, and now instructs across the Province on the topic of Compulsive Hoarding. James instructs on the legislative aspects of Compulsive Hoarding as it applies to the Residential Tenancies Act, and Fire Protection and Prevention Act as well as clean up strategies and risks.
Further, James has consulted for many communities across Canada and the United States, as well as Internationally. James has brought the issues surrounding Compulsive Hoarding to the attention of the decision makers and politicians all the way to the Federal Level and works closely with stakeholders on the next evolution in Compulsive Hoarding. James is also a Professor for Fanshawe College, developing curriculum and instructing in the School of Public Safety for the Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education course.
Hoarding: A Trauma-Based Perspective - Linda Kelly, MSW, RSW
Linda is the CEO and Founder of Kelly Mental Health, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities with access to quality mental health services. Linda is a Certified Clinical Traumatologist and has focused most of her clinical practice on providing treatment to individuals struggling with longstanding traumas, including the legacy of the Indian Residential School System, historical violence, and complex family dynamics. She teaches positive coping mechanisms, resiliency, and empowerment through development of personal insight and understanding.
Hoarding: Legal Rights and Obligations - Kaitlin Roka
Kaitlin became an Associate Lawyer with Cheadles LLP in September 2018. She practices in the areas of Corporate & Commercial, Wills & Estates, and Real Estate. Kaitlin graduated with her Juris Doctor degree from Lakehead University's Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in 2018. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from Queen's University and a B.A. (Hons) degree in Law and Society from York University. Prior to law school, Kaitlin obtained her Paralegal P1 License from the Law Society of Upper Canada and worked as a licensed paralegal.

James (Jim) Davidson is a partner at Davidson Houle Allen LLP. He represents condominium corporations, their directors, owners, and insurers throughout Eastern Ontario. Jim also has extensive experience in building deficiency claims and claims to Tarion.
Jim is much sought after in the condominium community and has been invited by many prominent organizations to speak about condominium law. These include lectures at events by CCI, ACMO, The Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Admission Course, the Canadian Bar Association and various organizations of insurance adjusters. Jim was the condominium law lecturer at Ottawa’s Bar Admission Course for over a decade. Warren Mouck: Warren is an associate with Cheadles specializing in the areas of labour and employment law, administrative law and litigation. Warren regularly advises clients on a range of employee and labour relations issues, and is a member of the Northwestern Ontario Chapter of the Human Resources Professionals Association. She was involved with the Saskatchewan Justice review of the Condominium Property Act, 1993 in Saskatchewan. Jamie has been involved with CCI both locally and nationally for 12 years. She started as a board member with CCI-South Saskatchewan, and in 2014 she joined the National Executive Board.
Devon E. Cassidy, BSC, LLB, LLM: Devon completed her Bachelors of Law at the University of the West of England, Bristol Law School and her Masters of Law at Trinity College Dublin focusing on International Business Law. Doug Shanks: Mr. Shanks is a senior partner at Cheadles LLP in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Mr. Shanks practices in the field of business law, including condominiums. Prior to entering law school Mr. Shanks completed two years of undergraduate study in sciences, economics and business. He was called to the Bar in 1978. Mr. Shanks has taught corporate law in Thunder Bay at the Bar Admission Course for the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is a former lecturer and guest lecturer in business law at the Faculty of Business, Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario. He is also a past director of the Thunder Bay Law Association, past member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and past member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Council.

Armand has been on all the government committees involved in the reform of the Act and was one of 11 people appointed to the government's Expert Panel that conducted the final analysis of the Act. Armand has also been appointed as on the four Founding/First Directors of the newly Created Condominium Authority of Ontario.

In accordance with Section 3.02 of By-law 1 (one) which states taht any member who wishes to run for a Board position can do so by advising the office of the local Chapter in writing of their intent to do so no later than 12 noon Friday, February 25, 2011.
This year there are two (2) positions up for election (three (3) year term) to the Board of Directors.
Sharon Hagstrom, of AON Reed Stenhouse Inc., and J. Douglas Sharks, of Cheadles LLP have consented to let their name stand for office.

From time to time, corporations need to repair or replace major components of the common elements. Financing of such large projects is an important matter. This seminar addresses financing from the prospective of the Condominium Act, external financiers and managers aspects.
This course will earn RECO or RIBO attendees MCE credits for 3 hours of instruction. RECO and RIBO attendees will need to provide their Registration Number, check in & out to comply with requirements.

If you did not attend Sessions I &/or II, it is recommended but not required that you preapre for Session III by reading chapters 1 to 12 in the binder (however, there will be a very brief review of Sessions I & II covering chapters 1 through 12.) This is an excellent way for Board members to demonstrate their due diligence and will provide you with an understanding of Reserve Funds, Investments, Audits, and Taxes.

Two lawyers who have dealt with a number of condominium cases and a knowledgeable insurance adjuster will provide a panel discussion. They will also review decisions of the Courts and issues that have arisen in their practices dealing with topics of interest to condo unit owners, Condomium Corporations and the purchser of condominium units. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers after the panel presentation.
The seminar is to give directors, managers and owenrs insight into legal matters faced by other Condominium Corporations, and the reason why the case was won or lost. This is essential information for everyone that owns a condo.
